THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), Position Description Number T5895000 and is part of the 224 ADG, National Guard. This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants. This is a temporary not to exceed one year of appointment.

As a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) (GS-2210-12), you will serve as Information System Security Officer (ISSO), ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified information systems, networks and data through the enhancement of Department of Defense (DoD) information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools. Enhancement of information systems security programs, procedures, and tools are specifically accomplished by conducting vulnerability assessments and ensuring all protection needs are met.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, and/or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have one year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Experience serving as a technical expert and focal point for Information Technology (IT) security and information assurance policies, planning, programs, initiatives, certification and accreditation. Experience providing advice and assistance regarding security aspects of processing, storage, retrieval, transmission, and access of classified and unclassified information. Experience administering and monitoring installation compliance with all applicable DoD, USAF, National Guard Bureau (NGB) and Air National Guard (ANG) Information Assurance regulations and policies. Evaluating and assessing vulnerabilities of classified network and application server hardware, operating system software, and peripheral network equipment such as routers, bridges, switches, attached cabling system, network interface cards, modems, multiplexers, and concentrators. Updating hardware and software architecture databases to reflect installations, turn-ins, and changes in reportable software. Reviewing national, DOD and other policies, program proposals, operational and strategic plans, and identifies issues requiring tier two actions or inputs. Based on these reviews, provides technical recommendations for changes to the security posture to the Wing Information System Security Manager (ISSM). Analyzing equipment and software reliability and suitability for vulnerability assessment utilization. Conducts analyses of classified network usage, hardware and software capabilities, ineffective practices or procedures, equipment shortcomings, and other relevant factors. Determining, developing, and ensuring cooperation and coordination with related IA/CND program efforts.
