Senior Director, Information Technology - Identity and Data Security

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Cisco IT, Digital Security is looking for an exceptional leader to lead our Security Technology, Enterprise Identity and Access, and Information Technology Risk/Compliance area. This focus includes: One Identity, evolution of access management, adoption of data security capabilities, and IT ownership of Identity and Access Management. You will partner with Customers, Partners and the organization’s multi-functional teams to plan and execute on our strategies.


This role is ideal for a hands-on, dynamic leader who is passionate about leading high impact teams, while driving outcomes to the next level. This leader will be well versed and capable in IT infrastructure technologies and can lead an organization that is embracing innovative technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Hire, lead and run an IT team that is second-to-none
  • Global interpersonal leadership of a team of ~100 employees and ~120 contractors, distributed in multiple locations
  • Deep knowledge of and experience with the following:

o Customer and Partner identity systems

o Role based and fine-grained access management systems

o Data security concepts and methods

  • Leading & reporting security posture
  • Experience with risk management & audit practices

The Digital Security org is a newly formed function within IT’s organization. The team is an agile, fun, and dedicated to team excellence within Cisco, Operations and IT. You will lead a global team who are very passionate about the work they do and the impact they make on Cisco, our customers and partners.

All of this, combined with your innate ability to balance desired capabilities end-state within program/environment constraints and with a pragmatic lens makes you a phenomenal fit for this role.



MINIMIM REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. and M.S. in Engineering or Computer Science

o Bachelors + 15 years of related experience, or Masters + 12 years of related experience, or PhD + 10 years of related experience. Also requires experience managing managers.

  • Strong engineering delivery and execution track record, with experience around software-defined networking on design concepts, development, integration, testing, etc.
  • Deep expertise in industry standard methodologies in the various aspects of IT enterprise identity, data and network security, trends, and ability to implement solutions to enable key business strategies
  • Ability to attract talent, support the organization, and develop the next generation of leaders
  • Ability to build a significant partnership with peers, customers and partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills, including technical influencing, conflict management, negotiation, public presenting
  • Full dedication to customer experience and the highest ethical standards
  • Identify and drive innovation in Cisco products, services, solutions, technologies, and processes
  • Strong business insight and industry insight, thought leadership
  • Leadership skills to include coaching/mentoring, critical thinking, facilitation, change leadership, and team development
  • Understanding of scale-out software architectures for on-premises and cloud hosted environments across all layers (infrastructure, security, compliance, operations, service support, integration architecture, SP/Enterprise IT architectures, and software lifecycle management)
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering enterprise-wide solutions
  • Strong analytical ability, decision-making, and problem solving
  • Ability and willingness to travel globally as required

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Strong systems architecture background: many boundary systems & integration systems require partnership, especially with transformation of systems to cloud-native services
  • Multiple lifecycle leadership: combination of delivery/program-based leadership and operational/service-based leadership
  • Integration & extension: Federation concepts, SSO, OAUTH, SAML, data synchronization
  • Privacy: Preference stores, data sovereignty, GDPR
  • Security compliance: FedRamp, SOC2, PCI-DSS, ISO27001
  • Infrastructure & technology: Cloud-native identity system architecture & infrastructure (Kubernetes), Ping Directory, Keycloak
  • Multi-source / complex budgeting experience
  • Role-based access management concepts: hierarchy (identity->role->resources) vs. raw subscription (identity->resources)
  • Deep knowledge of security, risk and compliance policies and processes, including audit interactions and lifecycle.
